Marin County Fair

On July 3 we'll be back at the Marin County Fair for the 2nd straight year.  Hopefully we won't have a repeat of last year, when due to an unfortunate misunderstanding, the Mules were penned up in the livestock area for an hour and a half -- until our attorney could get there and straighten things out.  We made it to the stage just in time for our show.  There we found the 7 [lower case] mules who were supposed to have been in the livestock area all along.  The sound man was much relieved to see us, as he had gotten terribly frustrated trying to sound-check them.  But all's well that ends well -- we had a great show and a ton of fun with old friends and new.

We're playing from 7:30 to 8:30, so you can come for our on-stage swampy-tonk fireworks and then stick around for the literal up-in-the-sky fireworks. Those happen at 9:30.  That gives you an hour in between to stuff yourself with corn dogs and cotton candy and get in a roller coaster ride or two. On second thought, we recommend roller coaster before corn dogs.

We'll be playing on the Hennessy Funds Community Stage which is near the Ferris wheel, between the food court and the vendor booths.  It's got chairs and shade and room to dance, so you can rest your feet or give 'em a workout -- it's up to you!  So bring a busload of friends and come on out to the fair!  Look for us at the stage by the Ferris wheel.  [But if you don't find us there . . . try the livestock area.]

Novato Festival of Art, Wine & Music

Memorial Day is in the rearview mirror now, which means it's officially summer (yay!) -- even if the solstice and the weatherman still have some catching up to do.  This weekend the Festival of Art, Wine and Music returns to Novato and the Mules are happy to be returning to the festival.

It's all happening on Grant Avenue from 7th Street to Redwood. It starts at 11am, goes to 7pm on Saturday / 6pm on Sunday and admission is Free!

43% of the Mules (Sandy, Charlie & Dick) live in Novato, so playing the Festival is always their favorite home game.  For Sandy, it'll mark her 8th anniversary with the Mules -- she joined the band just in time for the 2015 Festival, which was just her 2nd-ever Miracle Mule show.  But even the other 57% of the Mules will be fired up for this one and ready to give it 110%.

7 blocks of vendor booths will offer everything from tie dye to Aloha shirts, lawn sculptures, cacti, sun hats, purses, belts, earrings, toe rings, mood rings, and sure, probably nose rings.  Plus lotsa food booths, fun activities for the kiddies, and craft beers and premium wines for the grown-ups.

One thing you won't be able to buy there is dancing shoes.  So you'll want to be sure to bring your own.  Once we kick off our set you're definitely going to need them.  We want to fill Grant Ave. with dancers -- in the street, on the sidewalks and around the corner!  So do your part.

You'll find us at the far eastern end of the Festival, on the main stage at Redwood and Grant.  Y'all come and help us rock Novato!
